Bryn Mawr Communications (bmctoday.com) is seeking an experienced junior Editor to join the Practical Neurology team and develop outstanding news, social media, and digital content. The Associate Editor reports to the Editor-in-Chief | Neurology and is responsible for supporting the editorial team while ensuring our market-leading quality standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Research and stay informed of newsworthy topics in neurology, covering specialty areas such as sleep, MS, dementia, stroke, movement disorders, to include in Practical Neurology
- Write and edit news briefs, including fact checking and proofreading, and post to web site
- Manage work assignments for 1-2 freelance writers as needed
- Facilitate organization and dissemination of monthly editorial alert for sales force and eblasts for Neurology print and digital content
- Responsible for weekly, monthly, and special eNewsletter, including content selection, scheduling, distribution, and quality control
- Manage social media accounts, such as Twitter and LinkedIn, including posting content, preparing usage reports, and monitoring accounts
- Handle special projects, including special news report
- Take on large-scale tasks as needed
- Assist with digital asset commissioning and development, such as video, podcasts, and more
- Help editorial team as needed with proofreading of regularly scheduled print issue
- Monitor and analyze usage reports for web site and social media and competitive publications
WHO YOU ARE:
- Earned a bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Biomedical Science, Health Science, Communications, or related field
- At least 3+ years of editorial and publishing experience, preferably with medical communications company or health publisher
- Laser focused on maximizing quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement processes with the goal of maximizing efficiency of operations
- Thrive at juggling multiple projects at same time and bringing new ideas to the table
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (must have writing samples)
- A curious mind and love of learning, with interest in medical/biologic research
- Experience with digital assets, such as video, podcasts, and more
- Interested in social storytelling through Twitter, LinkedIn, and more
- Understand social and digital metrics
- Knowledge of medical and scientific literature searches, including PubMed
- Rigorous commitment to quality, clarity, and consistency in writing, including following a specific style manual.
- Proficient working with software such as Microsoft Office products, Google products (e.g., Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.), InDesign/Adobe, etc.
